Dublin became the capital of Irish Free State after the partition of Ireland in 1922. The Northern Ireland remains part of the British Empire. It was founded by the Vikings in 841 and they settled on the south bank of the River Liffey. Dublin derived from the Irish word Dubh Linn or Black Pool in English.

Ireland is using Euro as their official currency even though they are not part of Schengen area. Separate visa must be obtained prior for your visit if your country is not part of their visa waiver program. Getting to the city center is easy, from the airport cross the footbridge and board to the bus Route 700 Dublin Airport – City Centre – Stillorgan – Sandyford – Leopardstown. The departure time is every 15 to 30 minutes and the ticket cost is around 6 euros. 1) Dublin Castle was built on 1204 AD by the orders of King John of England. In the earlier days, it was served as prison, court of law, military fortress and seat of English Administration in Ireland. 2) St Patrick’s Cathedral was founded in 1191 and it is known as the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland. It is also a buried site for notable individual. Entrance to the Cathedral is not free and adult ticket cost 7 Euros and for students it cost 6 Euros. Bronze statue of Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness is located outside the cathedral, designed by Irish Sculptor John Henry Foley and erected in 1875. Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness was a famous Irish brewer and philanthropist.

3) Guinness Storehouse is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dublin. For visitors, the journey begins at the ground floor up to seventh floor and the stories being told with various interactive experiences. 4) The Ha’Penny Bridge is a pedestrian bridge built in 1816 spanning the Liffey River. In the old times people required to travel by boat in order to cross the Liffey. In 2013, Dublin City Council ordered to remove love locks from the bridge to avoid damage risk of the bridge. Across the bridge you will find Temple Bar known as the city center nightlife of Dublin.

5) Molly Malone is a famous song in Dublin and considered as an unofficial anthem. Molly Malone is a beautiful and young fishmonger who sell her stuff on the streets of Dublin. On the last stanza of the song states that she died of a fever and no one could save her.
