Gibraltar airport has daily scheduled from London Gatwick and other major cities in UK. Easy jet is the low cost airline where I booked my flight with 3 hours flight duration. From Central London there is direct train operated by Gatwick Express to the London Gatwick Airport. There are 2 terminals which is the North and South and it is both accessible by airport monorail.

Gibraltar is member of EU however, it is not part of Schengen Agreement and there is immigration and customs upon entering the tiny territory. If you have UK visa whether it is residence or tourist visa with at least  six months validity then you may enter without visa otherwise, visa shall be arranged in advanced.

After passing the immigration, the exit point is the runway of the airport and immediately cross as soon as possible and a little bit of selfie will do.

Now I need to find the room which I booked for my stay and it is inside the barge where it is dock in the port. The owner is very accommodating and immediately upon my check in he served me with one shot of whiskey.

It’s time to explore and discover Gibraltar.

Roaming around the city is very accessible you can do by foot or by riding the bus with different routes. Gibraltar pound is the currency of Gibraltar. English, Spanish and Llanito is the official language of Gibraltar.

One of the most sightseeing activity that you shouldn’t missed in Gibraltar is the Dolphin Safari. Bookings can be made at their website www.dolphin.gi at around 20 pounds. For around one hour boat ride you will be able to witness Dolphin in their real actions. Sometimes the trip could take up to one and half hour depends where the dolphins are.

Here is the amazing video of the dolphins making exhibitions in the middle of the sea.

Next stop is the Europa Point located on the southernmost tip of Gibraltar. Views of North Africa including the city of Ceuta can be visible on a clear day. Europa Point Trinity Lighthouse was established in 1841 and automated in 1994 with the height of 20 meters. Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque is a mosque located in Europa Point and it is a gift from Saudi Arabia courtesy of King Fahad, The estimated cost of the most is around five million pounds at it took two years for construction.

The Rock is the major landmark of Gibraltar it is 426 meter high and accessible by car and cable car. From the top of the rock you will see where the waters of Mediterranean Sea meets the water of Atlantic Ocean. Monkeys are around the areas and be careful with your belongings as they may attack you.

If you are interested to visit St. Michael’s Cave which is located within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, around 25 minutes walk down from the top of the cable car station. Ticket is available online at http://gibraltarinfo.gi/en/tickets/ and also in the cave entrance.

The Cathedral cave is a auditorium used for concerts, drama, operas and other events with over 100 seating capacity.

The last glimpse at the rock before my flight back to London. Thanks loungekey for my free lounge access at The Calpe Lounge and the only lounge in Gibraltar Airport
