Barcelona is the largest city in the Autonomous Region of Catalonia, Kingdom of Spain. Catalan language is widely used after Spanish language. Tourism is the major economy of Barcelona and it was the 20th most visited city in the world.

Barcelona–El Prat Airport is located 12km from the city center and the second busiest airport in Spain after Madrid, the capital city. Aerobus is much cheaper compared to hire taxi at around 5.90 Euro one way trip and can be book from their website. Aerobus is serving from the airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Plaça de Catalunya and vice versa.

Thanks to the hop on and hop off tour buses and I was able to discover some of the famous places in Barcelona. City Sightseeing offers three routes, red route, blue route and green route. Prices and details can be found on their website at https://city-sightseeing.com/en/17/barcelona

Now let’s go to my itinerary,

1) Red Line Bus starting point is at Plaça de Catalunya. Plaça de Catalunya in English is Catalonia Square and it is one of the busiest square and favorite meeting point in Central Barcelona.

2) Hop off Hop off to Red Line Bus Stop 4 for Sagrada Familia and sometimes you need to take a long walk due to road closure if there is activity near the church. Entrance fee on the church is not included in the City Sightseeing ticket. For those who are interested to visit the top of the church, advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended prior for your visit. Prices may vary depends on your interest and details can be found on their website at http://www.sagradafamilia.org/eng/tickets/index.html. Audio guide with interactive is available in the entrance and handbag is strictly forbidden and you can leave in the locker by inserting coins.

Catalan Architect Antoni Gaudí designed the Sagrada Familia. In 1882 the construction of Sagrada Familia commenced and of this moment, the church is not yet finished and scheduled to be completed in the year 2026.

3) Park Güell is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and officially opened as public park in 1926. However, there are some areas which is open to the public and other attractions requires ticket which can be purchased online or on site. Hop off to Red Line Bus Stop 6 and it will take 10 minutes walk to reach the gate.

4) Hop off to Red Line Bus Stop 22 for Barri Gòtic or Gothic Quarter, it is the old city of Barcelona. Most of the quarter can be access by foot since the streets are narrow. Please ensure that you will not be lost, otherwise you will end up your way out in other street.

The short trip must come to and end and see you on my next blog.
