The state of alarm in the entire country of Spain has ended today June 21, 2020. Each autonomous region has now its own freedom to implement its regulations. In Madrid, a new normality has been established in two phases.

The first phase will take effect from June 21 to July 5 and the second phase, from July 6, although still there are some restrictions. The establishments in closed spaces is now limited to 60% capacity and it will increase to 75% on July 6. While the establishments with open areas, mainly terraces, the occupation will be 80% and 100% on July 6. The use of a face mask is mandatory if the minimum social distance of 1.5 meters is impossible to maintain.  These regulation is also applicable in tourist accommodation, commercial and retail establishments, shopping centers, parks, libraries, archives, monuments, museums, cinemas, theaters, auditoriums, covered sports facilities, betting and gaming establishments, academies, driving schools and unregulated training, fairs, congresses and events, amusement parks, zoos, aquariums and in bullrings. These capacity limits are not applicable in retail section businesses.

Places of worship shall not exceed 75% of its capacity. Weddings and other celebrations may be held in all kinds of facilities provided that they will not exceed 75 % of its capacity. A maximum of 150 persons can attend in open spaces and 75 in closed spaces.

Nightclubs will remain closed until July 5. Until July 5 the social service centers will be closed, except for the residences. Swimming pools will now have maximum capacity of 50%. But starting July 6 swimming pools and sports activities will no longer have capacity limit, keeping the distance of 1.5 meters between their users in the areas. Gyms will be limited up to 20 persons and will expand to 25 persons on July 6. Children’s play areas in public spaces may be open as long as an estimated maximum capacity of one person is respected for every four-square meter in the premises. Leisure time camps for children and young people are allowed with 300 assistants outdoors and 75 in closed spaces.

The mandatory use of a mask for those over 6 years of age is maintained without exception in the field of public transport. Vehicles with up to 9 seating capacity such as taxis and VTC, the limitation of two passengers for each additional row to that of the driver is eliminated and an occupancy of up to three people per row of seats is allowed, regardless of whether they live together or not on the same address.
