My Hakone, Overlooking Mount Fuji, Japan

Hakone is a town in Ashigarashimo District in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Hakone is less than 100 kilometers from Tokyo. Hakone is located in the mountainous far west of the prefecture, on the eastern side of Hakone Pass.




Hakone has been designated as a Geopark by UNESCO. Most of the town is within the borders of the volcanically active Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, centered around Lake Ashi. Tourism is the main economy of Hakone, both local and international visitors are visiting the place for a short break from Tokyo.

Ride at Komagatake Ropeway, an aerial tram going to the top of mountain lifts off from the shores of the lake and takes up in an enclosed cabin with 360-degree views.

Mount Fuji can be seen on top of Hakone Mount Komagatake on a clear day. Once on the summit, enjoy time to take in views over Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji.

After visiting Mount Komagatake, back to Tokyo via Shinakansen bullet train. The journey will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
