Cleaning Phones

Not everyone has the option of sheltering in place, but even if you’re fortunate enough to stay home right now, there are errands like grocery shopping that continue unabated. We make efforts to wear masks in public, and limit interaction with others to perhaps a few trips to the grocery store per month, yet our phones still travel with us everywhere. If you’re not locked down at home, this includes your place of business and maybe even public restrooms.

The reality is that many of us are constantly setting our phones down on foreign surfaces. Worse, we never seem to stop touching our phones—and we’re all aware of how important clean hands are these days. This makes it imperative that you disinfect your phone regularly.

There are sophisticated (if pricey) solutions to disinfecting phones, as well as earbuds, car keys and other small portable items. UV sanitizers housing multiple tiny UV lamps encase your phone in a tanning-bed-like pod and can destroy the germs that live on its surface in as little as three minutes.

However, if you don’t have north of a hundred dollars to spend, you can get the job done safely with a single-use disinfecting wipe and a soft cloth. Here are the basic Dos and Don’ts:

Dos:

1. Consider adding a screen protector to your phone to allow you to clean that surface while reducing the risk of damaging the oleophobic coating on your actual phone screen.
2. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing disposable gloves to clean your devices, and then washing your hands afterward.
3. Don’t reuse gloves, since they can harbor virus particles just as your devices can.
4. Use only bleach-free disinfecting wipes (e.g., Clorox or Lysol Wipes).
5. If the wipe is softer on one side and more abrasive on the other, use the soft side.
6. Partially ring out the wipe and swab the phone gently, front and back.
7. When you are finished, dry the phone with a soft, microfiber cloth.
8. Wipe down your phone case. Separate phone and case before cleaning, and then let each dry thoroughly before reassembling.

Don’ts:

1. Phones may be sensitive to excess moisture, so do not saturate your phone.
2. Avoid spray cleaners.
3. Never submerge your phone in a cleaning solution.
4. Do not use bleach.

Other steps for better phone hygiene:

1. Be mindful of where you set your phone down.
2. Keep wipes in your car for a quick swab after you’ve been running errands.
3. To minimize phone contact with your face, use earplugs or a Bluetooth headset to talk.
4. Avoid passing your phone around—better to share those photos by text message!

Cleaning Computers

Like phones and tablets, laptops travel with us, making them potential carriers of bacteria and harmful organisms acquired outside the home. In the hierarchy of devices that need regular cleaning, laptops are right behind phones and tablets.

However, if you have a shared desktop computer in your household, it is important that it be disinfected regularly as well. The more people who touch a computer on a daily basis, the greater the odds are that it will come into contact with disease-causing organisms.

Dos:

1. Unplug the mouse and keyboard from their USB connections prior to cleaning. You do not need to completely power down.
2. As with phones and tablets, wear single-use gloves to clean; discard them and wash your hands afterward.
3. As with phones and tablets, use only soft, bleach-free disinfecting wipes.
4. Be mindful of how damp the wipe is, and ring out excess liquid before applying.
5. Generally, you can clean laptop and desktop screens less frequently than tablets, phones, and touch-screen computers.
6. After you wipe down the keyboard, mouse and screen(s) with a disinfecting wipe, use a damp microfiber cloth to swab the surfaces.
7. Dry with a second microfiber cloth.

Don’ts:

1. Never spray directly onto a computer to clean it.
2. Avoid bleach-containing wipes.
3. Don’t use paper towels, as they can leave traces of themselves among your computer’s various components.
4. Also avoid any towels made of rough material, as well as harsh sponges. Some disinfecting wipes have a more abrasive surface on one side of the wipe; only use the soft side of the wipe.

Getting in the habit of routinely swabbing down phones, tablets, laptops and shared desktop computers will help keep you safe from surface contamination, and hopefully contribute to your peace of mind. Under the present circumstances, phones should be cleaned daily if they have touched foreign surfaces during your errands or workday; schedule regular tablet and laptop cleanings based on exposure; and encourage family members or roommates to swab shared household devices including desktops, after each use.

As we sat down to order the food, the owners came forward then greeted us with warm welcome with comforting “mani” on the side. We ordered our favorite mixed pancit, lechon kawali, pork barbeque and bicol express. I grabbed straight away the “lechon kawali” then dipped it with soy sauce, vinegar and lemon…you can hear the crank of crispy skin once you made the first bite. The taste savors mixed with rice cultivating the aroma of “sili” from the sauce of “bicol express” mesmerizing the authentic Filipino dish back home.

Then we met the original Filipino Madrileña, Ms. Gina Floriza-Saez who migrated to Spain since 1983. She shared with us the stories and life of Madrid back then. The story of adaptation to new place where one of the stumbling blocks is the language. She then recalled the story of longingness where she got sick for the first time not because of anything but being alone. She opened-up also the story of survival amidst the cultural gap prevailing at that time she migrated. The company claims to have grown its userbase — which it counts as the total reach for its website, mobile apps, WeChat and other touch points — from 200,000 to 500,000 over the same period. It currently includes more than 1,200 activities across 24 destinations in Asia, that’s up from around 1,000 earlier this year. It didn’t say how many bookings or customers it has, but that it “serves thousands of travelers a day.”

The company was founded in September 2014 with the idea of helping travelers and tourists find things to do across Asia. Fah said that Greater China accounts for around one-third of its user base, with Southeast Asia also around the same figure. While Asia is a popular destination for tourists worldwide, Klook is particularly focused on unlocking the potential of Asian travelers.

“We’re a pan-Asia platform that serves both Asian destinations and Asian travelers,” he explained to TechCrunch in an interview. “The rising middle class in Asia make lots of inter-regional travel.” A Hong Kong-based company that sells travel activities across Asia, has announced a $5 million Series A round led by US-Sino investment fund Matrix Partners. China Growth Capital and Francis Leung, chairman of CVC Capital, also took part. Klook raised a $1.5 million seed round in April, and co-founder Eric Gnock Fah told TechCrunch that this round was over-subscribed thanks to impressive growth.

This new funding will go towards growing the destinations and activities on the Klook platform, and further developing its technology. The company also plans to begin spending money on marketing, having relied on partnership deals and word-of-mouth for visibility thus far. Part of that focus will see it open an office in Singapore to increase its focus on Southeast Asia.

Klook may also expand its physical presence into other local markets further down the line, Fah said. The startup is also welcoming a pair of new strategy advisors who could help open doors. Wilfred Fan is managing director of Agoda and head of its business operations in North Asia, while Shuren Hu is a former vice chairman of the planning and financial department of the China National Tourism Administration.

Upon entrance, you will be greeted by hospitable staff to process your entry to the place. This lounge is not accessible for everyone but by membership. The processing time is fast and easy on below steps:

1. Present your Lounge Key Cards (or Priority Pass and Visa Card for others)
2. The receptionist on the counter will swipe the card.
3. Then he/she will request to sign the receipt.
4. After signing, the receptionist will advise that there is no boarding announcement but to give 20 minutes allowance before boarding time to proceed with your respective gate.

The Sky View Lounge is located at Level 4 of of NAIA Terminal 3 right after the last Immigration Xray. You can easily trace the area since all lounges are located at the level 4 of that building. The review was initiated last month of June 2019 during our travel to Guam and Saipan.

The 1^st generation was designed using Apple W1 chip while the 2^nd generation is running the latest chips, Apple H1. Airpods has optical sensors and motion accelerometer to detect whether the Airpods are attached in your ears and it will automatic stop playing the media on your Iphone if Airpods are not available. You have the power to play/pause, skip, forward or even talk to siri on a double tap to your Airpods.

To change double-tap menu on Airpods, simply go to your Iphone General Settings, click Bluetooth, click your Airpods, select whether you want to configure the left or right Airpods and click your selection.

For microphone you have the option to use Left Airpod, Right Airpod or automatically switch Aipods.

To save battery life of your Aipods, you have the option to wear left or right Aipods. Aipods features more than 24 hours of battery life with charging case, up to 5 hours of listening time on one-time charge and only 15 minutes of charging for up to 3 hours of listening time. To check battery usage, simply open the cover and it will display the percentage of Airpods and casing on your Iphone.
